First Day at School

I wanted my Mother, she said not to cry,

She left me, waved and blew a kiss goodbye,

All alone in a crowd, and these kids were so load,

Some of them tearful, others quite cheerful,

Dressed up I was left here, given a blue cap with peak,

An intense feeling of fear, my dry mouth that couldn't speak,

Inside the school fence, she left me a pack,

Do I have the sense to find my way back?

She may return, I'd better stay here,

Then a tall man came near, I wipe my eyes,

He was bald with a beard.. the look of the wise,

"Good morning, I'm Mr Saunders" he smilingly said,

"I am your teacher, and what is your name?"- "It's Fred!"

"Fred, put your hat on the rack, now wipe that tear,"

"Your Mum will be back, but, Your with Me this year!"

The Scarlet Glove

A 'Duel at Dawn' was on that morn,
A fight for Love and Honour,
The two men that fought, were quick at their 'Sport'
Was it right to put this on her?
Ten paces would mark, gun barrel flint spark,
With count of each stride, they showed their pride,
Out rang the shot, this cross marks the spot,
Of both the men who died, didn't stop it, but tried,
With heartbreak and tears, she'd met her worst fears,
On each was found, here on the ground,
A Red Scarlet Glove,
Right next to the Wreath of Grief and Love.

The Curiousity

An unusual noise awoke me that night,
Through the curtains a half moon was shining it's light,
And a chill in the room.. things were not quite right,
Listening with intense.. should I sit up to hear it?
But where is my defence, and would I fear it?
What would confront me, it is time to go look'
Now wide eyed to see, I trembled and shook,
But God is with me, I've read The Good Book,
I'd have to build up the courage to go down the stairs,
What's it all about, the why's and the where's,
Whith disturbance of thought running through my head,
Quickly and quietly move toes out of bed,
It was shivering cold, but I had to be bold,
So on my feet I arose, without any clothes,
But what could be ruder than to find an intruder?
Who might steal my family's treasure,
My anger arises.. I'll give him surprises..
He'll do time at Her Majesty's Pleasure!
I crept down the stairs.. to catch him unawares..
With just a little hitch.. to finding the switch,
Then I see from the corner of my eye,
A Sparrow was hurting.. fallen down the chimney skirting,
Wing damaged!.. and now it can't fly.. that's why.. I'm on a high!
No fright now, I was ecstatic, the poor bird had been making the racket!
Must have bumped, dropped and collided,
Now he'll need a bit of help I decided!
I got the little guy.. all blackened with dirt..
I cleaned and fed him, and now call him "Burt"!

A Wonderful Life

In the autumn of our life, we think on life's many lessons learnt, mainly by getting it wrong at first, I remember a quote of a friend of mine "Americans first try every other way before finding the right way" ... he was an Australian, their well known for their 'tell it like it is' - having a less than diplomatic way with words! Actually I found I'm a bit like that Auzzi too! Anyhow, here I am in England in the UK, retired after my 49 years of working life (I finished school at 15) a lot of the time seemed to be a bit of a rat-race, now it seems I need to think about spending some quality time with the limited time I have left, I guess I'd be blessed if I still have more than 10% of my life left now I'm 65!
I don't particualy want to think of death, so I'll deal with that another day!
But I like the quote from comedian/writter; Spike Milligan, when asked what he'd like written on his tombstone, he said just write "I told you I was ill"!

I had a near death road accident when I was in my late 30's and it makes you more aware of life around you, the beauty of colours in the all natural surroundings, Sky, Plants, Creatures, people, and so many things.

At the age of 47 I found Christian teaching the true meaning of love in a life, and at 65 I continue to have a hope and a direction, being led by the Lord of my salvation, Jesus, to be a keeper of the faith and share my many blessings with others in this Wonderful Life we have been given, thanks God.

Life's Dreams #2.

When I was a boy I would get "Falling" dreams and wake up thinking I'd fallen out of bed to the floor, which I believe are quite common, here are two more recent dreams that I'm still puzzled about whether or not they have "Meaning" to?

1. In one dream that I remember repeated a visual image of a City in devastation, I'm with a small group running through streets and buildings, then an open space towards a bridge looking structurally like the Sydney Bridge but smaller, I climb the "Arc" of the bridge as the middle has broken away, only I can't get a grip due to the oily/greasy surface, the others are waiting for me to go forward, then a armed crowd come rushing at us.... I always awake a this point.

2. In the second dream, I am in a small village, at a "T" junction, on one side of the street are some shops, houses, and a small Pub/Hotel, the other side is a sign post to the road going uphill, away from the village High Street alongside an open field, there's a small group of people and a leader discussing something together, looking around, towards the hill, the field and the village, at sometime they are also outside the Hotel. I find myself floating slowly upwards, along sides the wall of the Hotel, getting higher, as I'm reaching the roof guttering I try putting my leg out to reach a foot hold on the roof ledge, but it's just too far!
The story gets blurred from this point.

So any idea? What does it mean? ... if anything!

Life's Dreams #1.

I guess we all have "Dreams" and "Ambitions" when we set out on our life's journey, often there are influences that change our direction along the way, rarely do we achieve our original aims, also we have "Sleep-Dreams" that may be a reaction to the day or weeks observations or our involvements that may have been playing on the mind, and there is another type of dream that we awake from, it's the "Repeater-Dream" that you take notice of, it can be scary such as in a "Nightmare" and it can boggle the mind, being a driving force, to figure out the "Whys" and "Whats", as some people take it to be a "Sign" that sometimes we try to interpret or ask someone known, a friend, a confidant, who will try to help.
Many times I have awoke with a dream to scribble it down while I can still remember it!
In these dreams I get a "Picture", they say a picture paints a thousand words and so it may be difficult to describe fully, so I hope to do a short version of just two of my "repeater-dreams", then go back to "dreams/ambitions" from my point of view (What a Man Wants)

(to be continued)

Life's "Cliche's" at a Speed Date meeting. #1.

Hi my name is Alan, but you can call me Al.
Hello Al, my name is Maureen, you can call me More.
Well, tell me more, More, I'm all ears.
I can tell you a story or two,
but, Al, getting down to brass tacks, are you up for grabs?
More, I've been single for some months now, and believe it or not, what you see is what you get!
Al, I wasn't born yesterday, you must have some skeletons in your cupboard?
Alright More, I'll tell you no lie, for crying out loud, I was dating, but it's all over now! She was leading me up the garden path, it all boils down to her, she always wanted to party and could drink like a fish and thats the beginning and end of it!
I suppose it's better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all!
So, More, let's get down to the nitty-gritty, what is it that you like to do in your free time?
Ah, well, I love shopping, cooking, holidays in the sun and chatting, so I'd be tickled pink if I could find a man who ticks all the right boxes Al.
OK More, what are these boxes you need for me to come up smelling of roses?
Well Al, you come over as down to earth, rather than your head in the clouds so that's one box ticked, but I need some questions answered, can you dance or do you have two left feet? Do you treat your women like a lady or is it all's fair in love and war? Are you penny wise and pound foolish and does money burn a hole in your pocket or do you give a little, take a little? Do you think beauty is only skin deep or beauty is in the eye of the beholder? If you disagree, do you see red, dig your heels in, bite the bullet or agree to disagree?
Hey Maureen, they'll be calling time-up soon, it seems to me, that you must have been here before, to have so many things to be right before you date someone!?
Your right Al, I've been there, done that, got the tee shirt, it's just that if you had asked me what I do for a living, you'd know I run this place, and I can tell you a fool and his money are soon parted, I'm a widow, been married three times round the block, the first one must have fallen out of an ugly tree and hit every branch on the way down, but he had millions, and with a face only a mother could love, the second had the looks, but lied his way through life, I wouldn't go through all that again, not for all the tea in China, the third one had a heart of gold, but gambled everything away, unlucky at cards, lucky in love. In every life a little rain must fall, so now I live in an apartment in Mayfair, look, let's go for a coffee, how about next week, here's my number Al, sometimes you can't see the forest for the trees, so give me a call, and we'll talk again, you know what, there's always someone out there who would love to be with you, it's written in stone!
O.K, Thanks, so maybe there is a light at the end of the tunnel! Well, I can't tell you what pleasure a it's been, until next week then, I'm free next Saturday... God Bless!
Yes, that'll be the day, never a dull moment, bye now Angel.
